Teachers’ professional knowledge and teaching methods play an important role in students’ learning. The school has a strong team of dedicated teachers who are graduates from renowned universities in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, and overseas. Minxin’s teaching is based on scientific and empirical studies, adopting authoritative and research-oriented theories of pedagogy. For example, the concept of ‘Visible Learning’ proposed by Australian educator Professor John Hattie enhances the role of teachers as they become evaluators of their own teaching. According to Professor John Hattie, visible learning and teaching occur when teachers see learning through the eyes of students and help them become their own teachers. We also adopt the theory of deep learning, and other effective methods from different educators, such as inquiry-based learning, the share start strategy, and problem-based pedagogy, all under the ‘scaffold’ concept to enable students to learn effectively. Moreover, based on the research findings of the International Society of the Learning Sciences (ISLS), our school combines theory, research, empirical studies and science to make students’ learning more scientific. The professional development of teachers is also a key focus. Demonstration classes, collaborative lesson planning, and professional learning circles are organised to cultivate a professional learning community in education. “Data-driven” and “Research and Development” approaches are focused to enhance the effectiveness of learning and teaching.
Teachers’ capacities and professional development are also our emphasis. Demonstration classes, collaborative lesson planning, professional learning circles are organised to cultivate a professional learning community for education. We emphasise “data-driven” and “research and development” approaches to enhance the effectiveness of learning and teaching, as well as the desired learning outcomes for students.
